![]() The Nissan Rogue is alright but it just isn’t as elegant as the CX-5, but it is better than the RAV4 and the CR-V. The Honda CR-V is just boring compared to the CX-5 and the infotainment is way too basic, and in my opinion the CR-V looks weird. The RAV4’s interior also just feels cheap and not as nice as the Mazda’s. With the Toyota RAV4, you have to pay more money for more features whereas in the Mazda, a lot of options come standard depending on the trim. The biggest competitors to the CX-5 consist of the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Volkswagen Tiguan and Nissan Rogue. and their really nice 360 camera (which is only on signature trim) on other trims. Would also love if Mazda incorporated ambient lighting in their cars. I would like to see Mazda have parking sensors standard instead of an option. Maybe the door perhaps or under the climate control vents. The rear heated seat buttons are hidden in the cup holder/armrest compartment which should have been rethought and moved elsewhere. They should have just offered the 2 features on the Grand Touring and not made the Signature trim. From what I understand it is available however it is only on the signature trim which is a lot more money than the Grand Touring package with just 2 more features. But instead it just keeps you a distance away from the car in front and you have to steer yourself. Mazda offers plenty of safety features which is nice, however I would like for their adaptive cruise control to have lane centering in conjunction with adaptive cruise like a lot of other car brands like Hyundai or Kia. The ride quality is decent to me, all cars in this class pretty much drive the absolute same. I am a huge fan of the exterior paint jobs that Mazda offers, their soul red crystal is the best paint job in the industry and their white is pretty nice as well. The materials used in the interior are very nice and makes it seem like a German luxury car inside. The speedometer is digital however it is clean and sophisticated compared to other digital speedometers that cram in so much information into the tachometer screen. The heads up display is very functional and it is nice to have. The technology is above it’s class, the rotary dial to use the infotainment is absolutely great and I wish every manufacturer did this but it seems that most car manufacturers are going away from it. The older Sport, Touring and Grand Touring trims are no longer available. The 2021 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring genuinely seems like a luxury car. The 2022 CX-5 models receive a trim reshuffling. So in that sense, when comparing the base prices of all the 2022 CX-5 models with the 2021 AWD models, the 2022 CX-5 models are less expensive. For 2021 CX-5 models, AWD was a $1400 option. The 2022 Mazda CX-5 models come with AWD as standard.
